Wibi

Wibi is the main project of the greater Wibi music project by Wibi. Got that?

Wibi albums are generally albums where several of us have a hand in making them (e.g. Wibi, Intriguing Fascinating), where we don't know in the moment who made them (e.g. I Forgot Forever, Motte & Bailey), or where they were mainly lead by just one of us but we didn't want to claim them for a solo project (e.g. GenericAlbum 2).
Wibi is also used for compilations of our solo material, e.g. Powera Trax, 2'11", Point & Punch. Better artists might be able to get away with using "Various Artists" there, but not us.

...We probably could, actually, but we won't.

She Said Ag

Members: Silver

A project known as Eyewitness called for an ambient soundtrack. Tango was slated to make this soundtrack but didn't get around to it before Silver started messing around in Audacity. Thus She Said Ag was born (its name a reference to the Graham Lewis song "He Said Argh..." and a mediocre pun per the norm). Silver has also made some non-soundtrack material that may appear on a future Wibi album or a future She Said Ag release.

Deb Distorto

Members: Tango

The first explicitly defined Wibi side project (originating with a deleted release from July 2024), Deb Distorto began as Tango's attempt at anti-music: a series of arbitrary staccato notes trying very hard not to sound like anything. It then extended into a guise for especially loose ambient music.

Low Bar

Members: Lowry • Wisp

Lowry and Wisp made Low Bar one day while feeling really pissed off. Thus commenced Low Bar the project.

Low Bar is occasionally used for Lowry solo work not involving Wisp. Think of this as like how 23 Skidoo released Tearing Up the Plans while the bandleaders were away, or like how Richard H. Kirk got a few albums in as Cabaret Voltaire while he was the only member.

Squishy Things

Members: Princess

After doing a lot of work on Wibi, Princess turned her notice to MyOHC, which was a pledge to sit down and make a song in 1 hour every Saturday that had previously resulted in Don't Trust Any Music You Hear Online, Anne & the Sycophants' How to Lose Friends and Irritate People, and side B of Intentions & Extensions. She continued the pledge, making demos in the allotted hour every Saturday, and refining them until they became Looking for Bell 5 and its companion EP Friends of Bell. Her next plans involve nothing in particular.

Anne & the Sycophants

Members: Anne

"Anne & the Sycophants" was originally an alias under which an Anne-led EP would be anonymously submitted to a netlabel; that never came to fruition. Starting with The Guy with No Conviction it became Anne's solo project, and was retroactively applied to some Anne solo releases.
A fan of taking things one step at a time, Anne has been procrastinating on an EP, The World That Challenged The Monster, since January of 2025, and refuses to make a new album until he finds time to work on it (time he doesn't plan to allot).

I hope tired overworked people don't crash their cars together and kill everyone. There's not much we can do if they do except sit and argue which of them was the dilligent and careful one and which had the slacker vibe. I hope one day we can all be dilligent.

Rock has been worn-out and picked apart and mythologized every which way. Sledge got into punk rock despite (because of?) that, and started learning to play guitar, and now he regrets it. Let that stand as a lesson.

Men With Index Cards

We are pretty susceptible to being peddled bullshit narratives about this or that inventive experimental musician who pulled one over on the mainstream (said in a dreadful tone) and gained widespread success by simply blowing everyone's mind with sounds the masses (dreadful) could never imagine in their lives. Chloë intends Men With Index Cards to be a bit of a detox, by knowingly making more-or-less conventional electronic music for no reward.

Named for the method by which inventive experimental musicians Godley & Creme divined the lyrics to their #1 hit single "Cry" with inventive experimental producer Trevor Horn.

Gander

Members: Ernie • Tango

Ernie's sparse, straightforward music as GSRSUS led Tango to think his music would be perfect to cut up and make ambient songs out of, under a new project: Gander. Exactly one such cut-up was made before Gander was forgotten about.

Stranded in Porlock

Members: Godot

One time a good writer had a vivid dream, the specifics of which are lost as background filler to the anecdote, and began to turn it into a poem, but was interrupted by a stranger from Porlock knocking at the door. After beating the man into a coma and returning to his writing desk, he found his creative groove had been spoiled and he was doomed to die unpublished and unremarked.

Godot has no such desire for notability, but nonetheless finds that an optimistic imaginative world he once inhabited is now ripped away from him at every waking moment. He is unable to so much as fantasize. He is Stranded in Porlock.

Under this alias he wrote out the specifications to an avant-garde puzzle game, and composed the main theme to it. Said game has not come to fruition.

GSRSUS

Members: Ernie

Ernie describes himself as somewhat oxymoronical; for all he is willing to finick over obscure miscellanea, he just as often tends to be jittery and unfocused. In some way this manifests in his music as GSRSUS: unusually restrained for Wibi music with little syncopation.

He plans to make and release a single at some point titled Assembled According to His Notes.
